Let’s face it, the closet is an area that we all have
problems organizing. If we didn’t there would not be all of the
closet storage system companies that there are. So we know that we
have problems organizing our closet. How do we get it done without
spending a fortune?
It starts with weeding out what you do not use or wear anymore. I
know that when I decided to organize my closet, there were clothes
in there that I had not touched in years. Some were clothes that a
smaller me could wear but let’s be honest, your body changes when
you have a child and you cannot reverse the fact that your hips are
bigger now than they were before. No matter what your reasons may be
for keeping those clothes that no longer fit you, decide that when
you organize your closet, you are going to get rid of them.
That also goes for anything that you do not wear anymore. Maybe it
was one of those outfits that looked great in the store and you
thought you liked it. Maybe you even wore it a few times. But you
know deep in your heart that you will never wear that outfit again.
Now is the time to get rid of it.
But real closet solutions go beyond just getting rid of the stuff
that you do not wear anymore. It also means finding a way to
organize what you do still wear. How can you get it all organized?
If your clothes simply do not fit in the closet space that you have,
there are a few simple and inexpensive solutions. One is to get
hangers that can hang several items on them. They take up the same
amount of space as one hanger but you can get sometimes 5 different
shirts or pants on them.
Another simple closet storage system idea is to double your hanging
rod space. How do you do this? Install double rods in your closet.
This means that you hang a rod under the rod that you currently
have. Be sure to hang it so that the clothes you put on it will not
touch the floor. This is a great space saver if you have mostly
shirts and pants in your closet. Just be sure to save some space for
dresses and longer items.
If you have a lot of shoes, getting a shoe rack is a simple way to
double the floor space that you have for shoes in your closet. I
know that this was a simple way to organize my closet for me. You
can also get over the door shoe organizers and even hanging ones if
you have plenty of hanging space but are lacking space for your
shoes.
Your shelves are also great closet solutions. You can store out of
season clothes in bins on them. You can store accessories in
containers on them. They are great storage space. Just think about
the best way to use them for your needs.
There are also many great products that can help you with your closet
organization journey.
